I always think the person who remains silent is actually thinking many things, which you can pick up on if you tune your dial to hear the static. In my experience, the person who “needs” to talk “should” be grateful for the silence, since when *I’ve* been silent it’s not to ‘hurt’ someone but to find my own thoughts, and to rage in my own way… communication is not the answer at times like that. Not unless you *like* inchoate yelling.
